Most of my childhood memories are centered around a few important places. To small children, everything seems so much bigger that it really is, and looking back many years later at a childhood house can be a strange experience especially when someone else lives there. What once seemed like huge redwood trees have transformed in scale, and the current homeowners have changed the place to their liking. Elementary schools seem so much smaller as well, but in reality all they stay the same for a long time, just the people change. New kids are entering and leaving every year and new memories and friendships are forming in the same place they did for me. Kindergarden is where I met one of my best friends that I still keep in contact with today. Photographs give the moments and people a place to live forever. My discovered my dad inspired me to become a photographer by buying me cameras to take pictures with every time I saw him. Even though he passed away in 2009, I still have these photos of him to be able to look back on and cherish forever. Another thing photographs allow us to see what has stayed the same, such as a place that is always gone back to for family photographs. Through this project, I took a look at where I came from as a child, and what memories and places seemed the most significant for me, so I can have a better idea of where I will be going in the future, and why.
