I LOVED Susie + Jared’s big day! I got connected to them by one of my favorite planners, One Fine Day SF ! I was so happy that they picked me to capture their day because it was everything I love! They got married at the UC Berkeley Botanical Garden and we had the most incredible weather (and sun!!!) Their ceremony was amongst the redwoods, and all of the guests sat theater style to watch the events unfold. Susie and Jared were surrounded by all of their loved ones, and recited their own hand written vows to each other. (There was lots of tears!!!)
After the ceremony, and during cocktail hour, we snuck away to capture some portraits in the garden, and it was magic! There’s so many beautiful spots at the botanic garden, so it was really hard to pick where we were going to do them, but we decided on the cactus ares since we did portraits in other spots earlier in the day. After that was completed, they headed back to cocktail hour to enjoy their time with guests! I always love when the bride and groom get to actually hang out and spend time with their guests during cocktail hour, instead of hiding away until grand entrance. In my opinion, you’re there to celebrate your love with everyone, so might as well be around everyone as much as possible!! Buuuut, if you do decide to hide until your grand entrance, then you’ll at least get some alone time with your boo (; So, I guess there’s a few trade offs when it comes to that!
I loved their dinner service because they hired a company to make pealle for all their guests! The pans were the biggest pans I’ve ever seen in my WHOLE LIFE!!!!! And it was DELICIOUS!!! I wish I could take all the wedding food home with me so I can eat it for midnight snacks ahaha. After dinner, of course there were toasts! I thought the brother of the groom had one of the funniest lines I’ve ever heard, so I’m going to share it here: (the groom is super sarcastic, and his brother said he had the best advice to fit his personality) “Remember, make sure you never go to bed angry……. Stay up fighting all night instead” HAHAHA. I hope the quote is at least kind of funny when you read it here, because honestly I died from laughing for like 10 minutes after the fact hahaha. Cake cutting was also super memorable because Jared took a piece of cake with the knife and served it right into Susie’s mouth. Amazing. To end the night, there was lots and lots of dancing (which I loooove! Catch me on your dance floor busting some moves).
Before the couple departed, they did a BUBBLE EXIT!!!!! I loooove exits. GIVE ME ALL OF THEM! END YOUR WEDDING WITH A BANG! I thought it was so fun because typically I hear of people doing sparkler exits (which are just the most magical thing ever!!!) but I was super excited about the bubbles! It turned out soooo well, and I’m happy I got to catch all the bubbles with my flash! It was such a blast!
Thank you so much to Susie + Jared for picking me to capture their best day ever! I had SO much fun, and I’d absolutely love to photograph another wedding at The UC Berekely Botanic Garden again!
